Chilli chaap

Soya chaap is made up of Soya chunks. They looked like some non-veg food but are completely vegetarian and healthy also. 

Soya chaap can be served as a main course in the form of soya chaap gravy, and also as starters and appetizers in various forms. I am also sharing some veg chaap starters recipe which is “Chilli Chaap” which is a chinese form of Chaap

INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING CHILLI CHAAP:-

  • All-purpose flour (½ cup)
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • Red chilli powder (½ tbsp)
  • Soya chaap (400 gms)
  • Oil (as needed)
  • Onions (1 cup)
  • Capsicum (1 cup)
  • Ginger garlic & green chilli paste (1 tbsp)
  • Tomato ketchup (3 tbsp)
  • Red chilli sauce (2 tbsp)
  • Soy sauce (1 tbsp)
  • Black pepper (½ tbsp)
  • Water (½ cup)

METHOD FOR MAKING CHILLI CHAAP:-

  • In a mixing bowl add ½ cup all-purpose flour, salt as per your taste, ½ tbsp red chilli powder, and mix well,
  • Add water gradually to make a smooth and lumps free batter,
  • Add 400 gms of soya chaap chopped into pieces in the batter and coat them well,
  • Deep fry the chaap till it becomes golden and crispy,
  • Reduce oil in the same pan, keep about 2-3 tbsps of oil in it,
  • Add 1 cup of onion petals, 1 tbsp ginger, garlic and green chilli paste and fry till they become golden brown,
  • Add 1 cup diced capsicum and saute well,
  • Add 3 tbsp tomato ketchup, 2 tbsp red chilli sauce, 1 tbsp soy sauce, and give it a good mix,
  • Cook the sauces altogether for 2-3 mins on low flame,
  • Add ½ cup water and cook the veggies for 4-5 mins till they become soft,
  • Add ¼ cup flour slurry and keep stirring it to avoid lumps,
  • Add the fried chaap and cook all together for 2-3 mins on low flame,
  • Switch off the flame & the chilli chaap is ready to be served.

NOTES:-

  • You can prepare the flour slurry with 1 tbsp all-purpose flour and some water.
  • Adding slurry will make it instantly thick.
